Why should I Hire a Professional Disc Jockey?
These are questions you should ask of any Company you interview for Music Entertainment.  We have taken this directly from the American Disc Jockey Assoc. Website and broke it down for you.  If you would like to review their website, click here.

Do you have questions on hiring a Professional Disc Jockey for your Special Occasion? Clients 'beware' ~ Some Disc Jockey's are not what they say they are.   Here at J&M Tunes, we meet or exceed all of the expectations of our Association.
Will your DJ bring Professional Equipment?

There is a difference between the audio equipment you have at home and the equipment a professional Disc Jockey uses. Professional audio equipment is built to go on the road day in and day out. Make sure your prospective choices use ONLY professional equipment to insure the musical selections are audible for all your guests enjoyment.
J&M TUNES:
Has 4 working systems all including Professional equipment such as Denon, Crest, E/V, Q.S.C, JBL, Shure, Numark, Rane and Yamaha. All our Lighting & Special effects are also Professional with names such as American DJ & Ness & Chauvet.

Will you receive a written contract?  ~
Are references available?

It is very important to have your booking confirmed in writing. All terms and conditions should be confirmed in writing to avoid any complications at a later date. References are important part of any business and your DJ should be able to provide you with a list of current names of previous satisfied clients.

J&M TUNES:
All bookings receive a written contract with all terms and conditions attached. All jobs are booked only with receipt of signed contract and deposit. References are available on request. A majority of our business comes from "word of mouth". We send out evaluation cards to our clients for feed back on our performance. Our client's satisfaction is our main goal.

Does your Disc Jockey know the proper procedure & etiquette for your type of affair?

Your DJ should become involved with the planning of your special day and should be prepared to handle all announcements and special events you have planned. Your DJ should provide suggestions on what will and what may not work well at your event.
J&M TUNES:
Our plan is to get involved in your day, we become "part of the family" from the start, it is important to us that your day is a success. We provide party, mitzvah and wedding planning.  All our clients are free to ask as many questions and provide input on their event. All wedding and mitzvah clients are met in person before any contracts are signed.

Is your DJ willing to discuss musical selections ahead of time, and are they willing to play requests?

A Professional Disc Jockey is aware that they cannot possibly know everything there is to know about your musical preferences and entertainment needs. They should be willing to listen to your ideas and suggestions. They should make themselves available prior to your event to discuss any special music requests. Special requests should never be a problem and your Disc Jockey should be willing to play them when they are appropriate to do so.
J&M TUNES:
Upon request, all clients may receive a computerized listing of song titles. We send out a "preferred" music request sheet to all clients prior to the event, this form also allows you to specify the types of music you wish and wish not to hear. J&M gladly accepts requests and we attempt to work them into the program. All special songs are planned in advance and we are flexible the day of your event as well.

Can your Disc Jockey Provide Back-up equipment?

Even professional equipment can fail on occasion, so it is important to know whether your Disc Jockey has spare equipment available to them. Any number of circumstances may arise between the time you book your Disc Jockey and the date of your affair. It is important to know if the Disc Jockey has a back up plan in case of illness or accident.
J&M TUNES:
As well as having 4 fully operational systems, we also maintain backup equipment (such as CD players, amps), in the event of an unforeseen circumstance, we can continue to provide you entertainment. J&M Tunes is networked with other professional DJ's through the American Disc Jockey Association, in the unlikely event of illness or accident all attempts will be made to secure an alternate for your event.

Will your DJ arrive on time? ~
Will they dress appropriately for the occasion?

Punctuality is an ultimate necessity, and as professional business men and women they should be aware of their responsibilities to their clients. Normal time spent setting up and removing equipment is not part of the entertainment fee. Your Disc Jockeys are also performers should dress appropriately for each occasion
J&M TUNES:
Our DJ's arrive at least 1 hour prior to your event to set up and test equipment so that all is ready to go at the start time. All DJ's dress professionally for set up as well as for performance.  We provide each client with a party planning sheet which allows them to request the performers most appropriate dress for their event.

How do I know if my DJ is Professional?

A Disc Jockey that has taken the time to register, or incorporate (according to State or local regulations) and insure their respective companies, demonstrates that they are serious business men and women. Are they members of professional organizations, do they receive training?

J&M TUNES:
Is fully insured and registered in the State of New York as a legal corporation. All our personnel act and dress professionally at all times. Our Company is members of the American Disc Jockey Association as well as the National Association of Mobile Entertainers and follow their bylaws, guidelines and requirements. We attend local training sessions and also DJ Conventions to keep current on all requirements, new dances, and new equipment. We network with other professional DJ's and share information on the Internet, we subscribe to professional magazines, and of most important, we learn from our clients.
